Pay Attention to Dental Health During the Holiday
Holidays are special and enjoyable times when family and friend visits are made, and we come together with our loved ones. However, during the holiday visits made throughout the day, the treats we find difficult to turn down can negatively affect our daily nutritional routine.
It is necessary to take some precautions to balance the increased meat and sweet consumption during the holiday. For example, when meat is consumed heavily during the day, the choice for the evening meal should be in favor of vegetable-based foods. Sweet consumption should be kept within a certain limit, and treats should be refused when necessary.
Do Not Neglect Oral Care
To protect dental health, teeth must be brushed during the day, especially after meals. Due to the fibrous structure of the consumed meats, residues stuck between the teeth can lead to gum problems. Therefore, oral care should be supported by using dental floss or an interdental brush. Otherwise, food residues remaining between the teeth for a long time can cause pain and bad breath by putting pressure on the gums.
Particularly, carbohydrates taken along with sweet consumption combine with the bacterial plaque accumulating on the tooth surface and accelerate cavity formation. For this reason, care should be taken to ensure that sweet consumption during the holiday is carried out in a controlled manner.
